What nominal capacity means
The stated 4 kg and 7 kg figures are approximate. Actual capacity changes with bean size, roast development and bulk density. A configuration should therefore include a practical operating margin.
When approximately 4 kg is appropriate
The compact scoop-free dispenser and wall-mounted cylindrical silo suit coffees that need a dedicated visible position without the higher volume of the scoop model.
When approximately 7 kg is appropriate
The taller scoop-return model suits faster-moving coffees and weigh-and-pack service where excess dispensed beans may need to be returned. Its capacity is useful only when the product rotates at a rate that supports the larger fill quantity.
Capacity and refill interval
Divide the approximate capacity of one silo by the average daily use of that coffee. The result provides a rough refill interval, which should then be adjusted to the store's actual operating routine.
Do not maximise every position
Different coffees can justify different fill quantities even when identical hardware is used. A 7 kg silo does not need to be filled to maximum capacity when the coffee moves slowly.
Compare the service method
The capacity figures belong to different product formats. The approximately 4 kg compact model is scoop-free and stands on a counter or shelf. The approximately 7 kg model adds an integrated scoop-return inlet. The wall-mounted silo is also approximately 4 kg but uses a cylindrical vertical format. Capacity alone is not enough to select between them.
Calculate an operating fill
Estimate how much of each coffee is used between planned refills and add a sensible operational margin. That value can be below the nominal capacity. Use real sales and refill records after installation to adjust the operating fill for each coffee instead of applying one fill line to the complete bank.
